How To Adjust A Volvo Car Clock

While your Volvo car's clock will typically need a little adjustment, there are times when you may need to make adjustments. For example, if you live in a state or city with a daylight-saving mode, you may need to adjust your clock at certain points of the year to keep your clock synced with everyone else. Another reason why you may need to adjust your clock is when you have changed your battery or disconnected it for any number of reasons. This has the effect of resetting your Volvo clock and so you will need to set it properly once you are done.

Here is how you should go about adjusting your Volvo car clock.

Safety First

An important point is that you should never perform this task when operating the vehicle. You need to do this before you set off on your journey. If you notice that your clock is off while on the road, find a safe place to pull over and adjust your clock while the car is stationary.

Date And Time Settings

On the infotainment display in your Volvo, go to settings and look for the menu option labeled system. When you enter that menu, you will see date and time settings, usually on the top end of the screen. When you press that option, the system will give you the option of adjusting the date and the time. Use the arrows on the infotainment display to scroll through the time settings as well as the date settings. The system also gives you the option to select between the 12-hour mode as well as the 24-hour mode. Once you are done, select ok and exit the system.

Volvo Vehicles With Built In GPS

If your Volvo car has a built-in GPS system, it may have an auto-time function. What this does is that it uses the internet to set the correct time depending on your location. The system will automatically update itself whenever you cross into a new time zone. For this function to work, however, the vehicle must be able to determine its current location. This means that if your PS system cannot update itself automatically, you will need to input the location where you are for the system to work.

The other thing to remember when adjusting time and date settings for a vehicle with built-in GPS is that the auto-time function must be enabled. The function is enabled in the vehicle's settings menu. If not activated, you will have to adjust the time and date manually, as described in the preceding paragraph.
